The Pro Elite World Cup could not have got any better! The whole weekend was bursting with football and World Cup fever. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved and we cannot wait to get another chance to do it again. We had over 1000 superstars with us across the whole weekend, that certainly made it feel very special.
In our indoor classes, we encouraged our little ones to wear any national team kit, they certainly didn’t disappoint. We saw so many different kits which was so wonderful to see. Our sessions were bursting with fun and even World Cup tournaments in our 5-7 classes! We saw kits from England to Argentina, and it was so amazing to see all the different nations represented here at Pro Elite!
The Pro Elite World Cup
We held our very own Pro Elite World Cup. Let’s just say it was a day to remember for everyone involved!
9am – U6/7 Diamond Conference
The day started off with our youngest teams, the tournament was so exciting all the way through. The eventual finalists were Argentina, managed by Coach Akin. Also in the final was Holland managed by Coach Jerrell and it was a very eventful game to say the least. Argentina came out eventual winners helped by an absolute screamer scored by Sami C, which was certainly the goal of the tournament. Coach Jerrell’s Holland battled all the way through the game and had some incredible moments, but the Argentina side proved too strong. Coming out 2-0 winners in the World Cup final!
Player Of The Tournament: Jacob Kalu. Jacob Kalu who played for France who lost in the semi-finals, put in incredible performances in each of his matches in the World Cup. As he won the player of the tournament in a side that didn’t make the final, shows how amazingly he played throughout. It was an amazing bunch of performances that deserved to be rewarded.
10am – U8/9 Eastern Conference
In our second World Cup of the day we saw our U8/9 Eastern Conference battle it out for the trophy. This tournament was a very exciting one which saw Holland and France advance to the final. A match filled with fantastic talent across both teams, both playing some amazing football throughout. France edged out the match winning 3-0 in the final, with fantastic performances from all of the players on the pitch.
Player Of The Tournament: Hani Peto. Hani who was the goalkeeper for the eventual winners France had an incredible tournament. As well as only conceding 2 goals in the whole competition he helped his team to win 2 penalty shootouts! An incredible performance, some would say even better than Lloris! Nevertheless an all round fantastic performance.
11am – U8/9 Western Conference
In our Western Conference for out U8/9’s it saw a France team who were unbeaten throughout, take on a Holland side who were very good in each of their matches. Coach Kymani and Eddie were the managers of France. They were going up against Coach Tyler’s Holland side, this was destined for a good game! The France team who were unbeaten took that confidence into the final and dominated from the start and came out eventual 3-0 winners, and lifting the World Cup trophy. Even though Holland didn’t manage to win, they put in a performance of hard work and determination, they just couldn’t find the finishing touches.
Player Of The Tournament: Kaan Mehmet. A midfield maestro in the middle of the park for England, even though they didn’t make the final, he played an incredible tournament and thoroughly deserved the player of the tournament.
12am – U10/11/12 – Platinum Conference
The final World Cup of the day saw our oldest internal league teams in action. The whole tournament saw so much fantastic football especially from our two finalists, Portugal and Argentina. This was the closest one of all! We had so many penalty shootouts, which shows how even each match was. Even the World Cup final saw it decided on penalties where Portugal came out victorious. The final was a very cagey affair but it was a very hard fought battle between Portugal and Argentina.
Player Of The Tournament: Andrew Trattou. Andrew would have definitely won the golden glove award! Over the course of the tournament, rumour has it he saved over 10 penalties over the course of the day!
The Pro Elite World Cup could not have gone any better. There were amazing goals, saves, tackles and moments that we here at Pro Elite will cherish forever. Finally we hope each of our superstars that competed enjoyed their day and made memories to last a lifetime. We look forward to the next time we can do something like this again with our Pro Elite family. A weekend to remember.
