This weekend was amazing! We had so many fantastic moments throughout and saw so much growth in all of our superstars! There were many different focuses for the different age groups this week, from agility and balance, to 1v1 defending and attacking. We had so many superstars turn up to our sessions this weekend and we cannot wait to welcome so many more to our new franchise venue in Cheshunt!
Indoor Sessions
In both of our youngest classes, the 18 months – 3 and 3-5 classes there was one main focus. This was working on agility, balance and co-ordination. We did this through using a circuit for the children to navigate, but still making it football related. By working on their agility and balance, it will allow them to improve these skills to then use in match scenarios. It is very important to work on these vital skills as it trains the body to move more efficiently which is needed not only in football but in everyday life.
In our older indoor classes, our 5-7’s, the main focus was dribbling with pressure. In this case we wanted our superstars to feel more comfortable on the football with a defender close by to them. This enhances not only their confidence but also their close control dribbling. This is very important especially during matches as it will allow them to be more confident to show their ability on the ball. Also it will show them that they are able to dribble under pressure enhancing self belief. This is very important especially in children as young as some of our superstars!
Check you what some of our superstars got up to this weekend here!
Development Sessions
In our development sessions this week, it was heavily focused on ball mastery. Dribbling and skills were the main focus this weekend to enhance their dribbling ability but to do so whilst learning and focusing on skills. Over the course of the session they would’ve worked on over 6 different skills. By introducing them to so many different skills, it will allow them to use all these different ones to get past their opponents. We pride ourselves in our development sessions to ensure each superstar is ready for the jump up to our teams. By focusing on skills and dribbling it makes each child more technically advanced and also helps their agility and balance.
