Our Amazing coach Cem and Firas took 7 of our academy under 8/9’s to Cricket Field Road, Newmarket FC’s ground, to play two matches against Cambridge United‘s U8/9’s. A great experience and challenge for our superstars!

The squad, managed by coach Cem and Firas, was Arturo, Theo, Rayyan, Harry, Taylor, Jacob and Umut. These players were handpicked from many of our internal league teams!

Coach Cem and Firas chose to use a high press approach which had been worked on in training in order to win the football closer to their goal; this proved to work well in the first game as Pro Elite raced into a quick 3-0 lead and ended up winning the first game 6-2! Harry was given player of the match being the rock and composure in defence.

In the second game we used the the same philosophy and it worked even better, quickly scoring 4 goals and eventually winning the game 11-2! Taylor was given player of the game for his excellent pressing and goal scoring abilities against high level defenders.

Coach Cem and Firas were both extremely proud of the boys, of how they carried themselves throughout the day and how they have learned so much during our training sessions and applied it to the matches. Scoring 17 goals against an academy side is something that our players should be extremely proud of, we certainly are!
