It is that time of the year again, where we look forward to our annual Superbowl Final this Sunday. A lot of hard work has gone in over this season and now we are finally here – but first, let me re-cap and tell you exactly what the Superbowl is about.
Two years ago, we pulled out 18 of our grassroots teams and made our own Internal League. This season, we replicated it with 12 of our teams, competing across two divisions every Saturday morning in our own Internal League.
We record results and have our “tournament” structure in place. The goal? Make the top 4 and enter the playoffs. The coaches are given clear instructions: results are not important -> but once in the playoffs, play to win.
Coach Marfs has done an absolutely fantastic job of managing the Internal League all season and the development of the boys and girls participating week in, week out, has been immense.
What gives me the most joy though, is the smiles on our superstars faces when I turn up on a Saturday morning in Enfield and see 4 pitches full of games, where Pro Elite are playing against Pro Elite!
It has been a magnificent season for all involved. Our coaches have been outstanding, Marfs has been incredible and our superstars push themselves to the limit every single week to improve, whilst having fun.
For me, that is what football is about.
I can’t wait for the day where we can roll this out nationwide, hosting a Superbowl type event with all of our Franchisees. Can you imagine a tournament where it is Enfield, Barnet, Finchley, Cheshunt, Southwark, Potters Bar & whoever else we bring on to share our vision – all competing in the same tournament?
Until then, enjoy this Sunday and I cant wait to see how much fun our superstars have. Win or lose, we are extremely proud.
